Sim obtained his undergraduate degree BSc Biotechnology as well as Master of Research in Synthetic Biology from University College London (UCL).
A talk in International Genetically Engineered Machine (iGEM) competition during his university years has made him realise the importance of IP for all researches. This sparked his interest in intellectual property and has led him into choosing IP as his career option.
Upon completion of his studies, he joined one of the top IP firms in Malaysia where he was given the opportunity to handle patent, trademark, industrial design and copyright matters. In addition to patent drafting, patent prosecution and attending to office actions, Sim has experience in filing PCT applications and coordinating prosecution of large global patent families. With his background in research and IP, he is able to easily understand his client’s invention and thus advising his client according to their needs.
